Rethinking Disability and Mathematics - Graduate Credit (26-27)
What if the system — not the student — is the barrier? Grounded in Rachel Lambert's Rethinking Disability and Mathematics: A UDL Math Classroom Guide for Grades K–8, this course challenges educators to dismantle deficit thinking and redesign their math classrooms for every learner.
Across 8 modules, you'll explore Universal Design for Learning in mathematics, move beyond the false choice between inquiry and explicit instruction, rethink fact fluency and assessment, and reimagine IEP math goals from the ground up. The course pairs textbook readings with the Sum of It All podcast and culminates in a UDL Math Classroom Portfolio — a set of real, classroom-ready tools you can use with your students immediately.
