Soils are natural bodies constantly subjected to change. The study of soil characteristics and classification, including the basics of soil profile description, field textural classification, recognition of master horizons, and essential soil-landscape, soil-vegetation, and soil-climate relationships. Laboratory work involves field excursions to describe soils and examine soil-landscape relationships. Prerequisite: ES 100, ES 161, ES 220, GEOG 100, CHEM 151, CHEM 115, or consent of instructor.

Discussion of how understanding of wildlife ecology, history, policy, public wants, and math help shape the decisions a wildlife manager makes as they work to carry out tasks like protecting and conserving endangered species, increasing the number of trophy game species or controlling pest species. Prerequisite: BIO 335 or consent of instructor
